Henderson Restaurant's Creative Approach to Economic Challenges

Viva Tequila Innovates to Thrive Amid Economic Pressures

Viva Tequila, a cherished establishment in Henderson, Nevada, is navigating the complexities of a shifting economy with resilience and innovation.

Owner Pat Dalton Amico acknowledges the hurdles faced by small businesses, noting a noticeable decline in sales over the past six to seven months as patrons tighten their budgets.

"With times the way they are and the economy the way it is, we're not failing. We're struggling. It's not as easy as it was a year ago or four years ago, five years ago," he shared.

In response, Viva Tequila has introduced a series of engaging events to draw in the community.

Live entertainment, themed nights, and specials like Taco Tuesday and Whiskey Wednesday aim to create a vibrant atmosphere that encourages patronage.

"Numbers are down over the last six, seven months for us, the numbers are down," Amico stated, attributing this to economic pressures.

"Where the prices are and the economy's going, food and everything else, they have less dollars to spend."

Other local businesses, including Pinches Tacos and 3D Retro, are encountering similar economic challenges.

Some have reported declining sales, while others have faced closures.

The broader Las Vegas area reflects this trend, with rising costs, inflation, and reduced discretionary income contributing to the difficulties.

Amico emphasizes the importance of community support, urging residents to patronize local establishments.

"Support our local businesses that aren't right there in the middle. It's nice if we go, and they're on all ends of town. And I'd ask the Las Vegas community to come out and support us all. We're part of the community."

On a positive note, the City of Henderson has launched initiatives to bolster small businesses.

The Henderson Small Business Assistance Program, in partnership with the College of Southern Nevada, offers a six-month program designed to help local business owners develop personalized strategies for growth and resilience.

Additionally, the Henderson Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Ready, Set, Expo on September 17, 2025, at Lee’s Family Forum.

This sports-themed business expo aims to connect entrepreneurs and decision-makers, providing valuable networking opportunities and resources to navigate the current economic landscape.

As small businesses across the United States face similar challenges, the collaborative efforts between local entrepreneurs and community support in Henderson serve as a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the city's business community.
